  1. 第1题,共16题

Your shift starts at 8:00 am. When is the best time to arrive?
    显示答案

答案: C. A few minutes early, so you are ready at 8:00

Punctuality matters in Canadian workplaces. Arriving a few minutes early means you can start work on time.

  2. 第2题,共16题

You see a coworker for the first time today. What is usual in most Canadian workplaces?

A coworker says "Hi, how are you?" as you pass in the hallway. What is the most natural answer?
    显示答案

答案: C. Good, thanks. How about you?

"How are you?" is usually a greeting, not a real question about your health. A short, friendly answer and a question back is normal.

  4. 第4题,共16题

Which topic is usually safe for small talk with a new coworker?
    显示答案

答案: A. Plans for the long weekend

Weekend plans, weather, food and local events are safe topics. Pay, religion and politics are personal and best avoided.

Marco: Marco is fine. Nice to meet you.

Sofia asks, "What should I call you?" Asking what name someone prefers is polite. Marco tells her about shipping without being asked.

常见问题

What certificate do I get, and what is it not?

If you score 80% or more on the final assessment, you get a PassEveryTest Certificate of Completion. It shows you finished this practice course. It is not a CLB level, an official language test result or an employer or government certification.

Will this course give me a CLB level for immigration or citizenship?

No. Immigration and citizenship use approved language tests or other accepted proof set by the Government of Canada. This course is practice for everyday workplace English only.

How do the listening questions work?

Your device reads the workplace conversation aloud in a Canadian English voice. The question does not show the script. You can read the script after you answer.

Do the pay and schedule rules in the lessons apply to my job?

The lessons use federal labour standards as an example. They apply to federally regulated workplaces, such as banks and airlines. Other jobs follow the employment standards of the province or territory where you work, so check those for your exact rules.

How does the final assessment work?

It has 35 questions picked at random from the whole course, with a 35-minute time limit. You get a new mix each time, and you need 80% to pass.

Where can I get free English classes in Canada?

Eligible newcomers, such as permanent residents and protected persons, can take free LINC classes. Contact a newcomer services organization near you to get a language assessment and register.
