  1. Domanda 1 di 25

Why should you write notes as soon as possible after an event?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: D. Memory fades quickly, so early notes are more accurate

Details such as times, words and descriptions are lost fast. Notes made right away are the most reliable.

  2. Domanda 2 di 25

What kind of notebook is best for security work?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: D. A bound notebook with numbered pages

Bound, numbered pages show that nothing has been removed or added later.

  3. Domanda 3 di 25

You make a mistake in your notebook. What should you do?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: D. Draw a single line through it, initial it and write the correct information

A single line keeps the original readable, which shows you are not hiding anything.

  4. Domanda 4 di 25

May you tear a page out of your security notebook?
    Mostra la risposta

    Risposta: B. No, never

A missing page makes the whole notebook look unreliable, even if you had an innocent reason.

  5. Domanda 5 di 25

What should you do with unused space at the end of an entry?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: B. Draw a line through it so nothing can be added later

Closing off unused space shows that the entry was complete when you wrote it.

  6. Domanda 6 di 25

What should you write with in your notebook?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: D. A pen with permanent ink

Permanent ink cannot be changed without leaving a mark.

  7. Domanda 7 di 25

A person shouts a threat at you. How should you record it?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: B. Write their exact words in quotation marks

Exact words are strong evidence. Your summary or opinion is not.

  8. Domanda 8 di 25

An incident happens at 7:20 p.m. How do you write the time?
    Mostra la risposta

    Risposta: B. 19:20

    For times after noon, add 12 to the hour: 7 + 12 = 19.

  9. Domanda 9 di 25

Your notebook shows an entry at 00:45. What time is that?
    Mostra la risposta

    Risposta: B. 12:45 a.m. (just after midnight)

In the 24-hour clock, the hour after midnight is written 00.

  10. Domanda 10 di 25

Ontario’s guard training syllabus lists basic report elements. Which is one of them?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: A. The time the report was completed

The syllabus lists date, time, location, actions or behaviours, description of individuals, observations and time of completion.

  11. Domanda 11 di 25

Which set of questions should a good incident report answer?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: B. Who, what, when, where, why and how

The 5 Ws and how make sure a reader gets the whole picture.

  12. Domanda 12 di 25

Which line from a report states a fact rather than an opinion?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: B. The man smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet

Describe what you saw, heard and smelled. Let the reader draw conclusions from the facts.

  13. Domanda 13 di 25

What should you write in the “why” part of a report?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: D. The cause only if the facts show it, never a guess

Guessing a motive can be unfair and can damage your report. Stick to what the facts show.

  14. Domanda 14 di 25

Which is a type of report named in Ontario’s guard training syllabus?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: A. A use of force report

The syllabus names incident reports, use of force reports and witness statements.

  15. Domanda 15 di 25

    What is a witness statement?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: C. A person’s own account of what they saw, in their own words

A statement records the witness’s account, not yours. The witness reads and signs it.

  16. Domanda 16 di 25

When taking a witness statement, what is good practice?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: C. Let the witness tell it in their own words, then have them read and sign it

Witnesses who hear each other can mix up what they saw. Keep each account separate and in the person’s own words.

  17. Domanda 17 di 25

In what order should you write the events in a report?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: C. In time order, from first to last

Time order makes the report easy to follow and matches your notebook.

  18. Domanda 18 di 25

Why should you avoid site codes and slang in a report?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: C. Readers who were not there may not understand them

Police, lawyers and insurers may read your report. Plain words mean the same thing to everyone.

  19. Domanda 19 di 25

Why must your report be accurate and complete?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: A. It may be used for audits or as evidence in court

Ontario’s syllabus notes that reports may be needed for audits or as evidence in court.

  20. Domanda 20 di 25

What is the safest way to send a confidential incident report?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: C. Through your employer’s approved system, only to authorized people

Ontario’s syllabus warns about problems with emailing confidential reports. Reports often contain personal information.

  21. Domanda 21 di 25

Which part ends every notebook entry?
    Mostra la risposta

    Risposta: D. Your signature

Signing shows the entry is yours and is finished.

  22. Domanda 22 di 25

You forgot to record something earlier in the shift. What should you do?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: B. Add it as a late entry with the current time and say it is late

A clearly marked late entry is honest. Squeezing notes between lines looks like tampering.

  23. Domanda 23 di 25

What should you do before handing in a report?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: B. Read it again and check that it matches your notes

A final check catches errors and keeps your report consistent with your notebook.

  24. Domanda 24 di 25

Which description of a person is most useful in a report?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: D. About 180 cm tall, thin, short black hair, red jacket, blue jeans, white running shoes

Specific, factual details help others find and identify the person.

  25. Domanda 25 di 25

Who should you picture as the reader of your report?
    Mostra la risposta

Risposta: B. Someone who was not there and knows nothing about the event

If a stranger can understand the report without asking questions, it is clear enough.

Cosa sapere prima del test

  • Ontario’s guard training syllabus lists the basic report elements as date, time, location, actions or behaviours, description of individuals, observations and time of completion.
  • The same syllabus says reports should contain factual information only and include who, what, where, when, why and how.
  • Ontario’s syllabus names incident reports, use of force reports and witness statements as types of reports, and notes that reports may be needed for audits or as evidence in court.
  • In court, a witness may be allowed by the judge to refresh their memory from notes made close to the time of the event.

Domande frequenti

Can I use my notebook in court?

Often, yes. A judge may let you refresh your memory from notes you made close to the event. That is why notes must be complete, neat and made as soon as possible.

What if I make a mistake in my notebook?

Draw a single line through it so it can still be read, write your initials, and write the correct information. Never erase, use correction fluid or tear out a page.

Should I put my opinion in an incident report?

No. Write what you saw, heard and did. Instead of “he was drunk”, describe the signs: the smell of alcohol, slurred speech, trouble standing.

What is the difference between a statement and a report?

A report is your own account as the guard. A statement is another person’s account of what they saw, in their own words, which they read and sign.

L’attestato è accreditato o riconosciuto ufficialmente?
