The official study pack says you can't go back to a previous part, so check your answers before you move on.

  11. Pregunta 11 de 19

What happens if you leave a Reading question blank?
    Ver respuesta

Respuesta: B. It is marked as incorrect

Who or what scores your answers in the CELPIP Reading test?
    Ver respuesta

Reading and Listening are scored by computer. Human raters score Writing and Speaking.

  13. Pregunta 13 de 19

Why does the Reading test include questions that do not count toward your score?
    Ver respuesta

Respuesta: A. They are used to develop future tests

Unscored items are used for test development. They look like the other parts and you cannot tell which ones they are, so try your best on every item.

  14. Pregunta 14 de 19

Your CELPIP level in Reading is 7. Which Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level does it match?
    Ver respuesta

    Respuesta: D. CLB 7

CELPIP levels line up with CLB levels, so CELPIP 7 matches CLB 7.

  15. Pregunta 15 de 19

Why is your raw Reading score changed into a scaled score?
    Ver respuesta

Respuesta: A. Because test forms differ slightly in difficulty

Each test form is a little different in difficulty. Scaling and equating make scores fair across forms before they are matched to a CELPIP level.

  16. Pregunta 16 de 19

When you first see a passage, how long does the official overview suggest you skim it?
    Ver respuesta

Respuesta: B. No more than 30–40 seconds

Skim quickly, for no more than 30–40 seconds, to get the general idea. Then read the questions and scan for the answers.

  17. Pregunta 17 de 19

The passage says a meeting was "postponed." The correct answer says the meeting was "moved to a later date." What skill helps you match these?
    Ver respuesta

    Respuesta: A. Recognizing paraphrase

Answer choices often say the same idea in different words. This is called paraphrase, and spotting it is a key reading skill.

  18. Pregunta 18 de 19

The official Reading study pack suggests about 13 minutes for one part, the longest of the four. Which part is it?
    Ver respuesta

Respuesta: A. Part 4: Reading for Viewpoints

The study pack suggests about 11 minutes for Part 1, 9 for Part 2, 10 for Part 3 and 13 for Part 4, which has the most complex texts.

  19. Pregunta 19 de 19

You have one minute left in Part 3 and two questions you have not answered. What is the best thing to do?
    Ver respuesta

Respuesta: A. Choose your best answer for both questions

A wrong answer and a blank answer both score zero, so a quick best choice can only help you. Always answer every question.

Preguntas frecuentes

Is this the official CELPIP Reading test?

No. This is an independent practice course. The passages and questions are original and copy only the task types of each part. For official samples, use the free practice tests on the CELPIP website.

What does the certificate of completion show?

It shows that you finished this course and scored at least 80% on its final assessment. It is not a CELPIP result or level, and it cannot be used as proof of English for immigration, citizenship, work or school.

Can my practice score tell me my CELPIP level?

No. Official Reading scores are converted from a raw score to a scaled score and then to a CELPIP level, and the number of correct answers needed for each level can change slightly from test to test. Practice scores here are feedback only.

Do I need the Reading test for Canadian citizenship?

The official CELPIP website says the CELPIP-General LS test, which has no Reading test, covers the Listening and Speaking skills for the citizenship language requirement. Always check the Government of Canada's current requirements before you book.

How long is the final assessment?

It has 38 questions in 55 minutes, close to the real Reading test's 43–56 minutes. The questions are drawn at random from the whole course, so every attempt is different.
