Frequently asked questions
Is this the official CELPIP Reading test?
No. This is an independent practice course. The passages and questions are original and copy only the task types of each part. For official samples, use the free practice tests on the CELPIP website.
What does the certificate of completion show?
It shows that you finished this course and scored at least 80% on its final assessment. It is not a CELPIP result or level, and it cannot be used as proof of English for immigration, citizenship, work or school.
Can my practice score tell me my CELPIP level?
No. Official Reading scores are converted from a raw score to a scaled score and then to a CELPIP level, and the number of correct answers needed for each level can change slightly from test to test. Practice scores here are feedback only.
Do I need the Reading test for Canadian citizenship?
The official CELPIP website says the CELPIP-General LS test, which has no Reading test, covers the Listening and Speaking skills for the citizenship language requirement. Always check the Government of Canada's current requirements before you book.
How long is the final assessment?
It has 38 questions in 55 minutes, close to the real Reading test's 43–56 minutes. The questions are drawn at random from the whole course, so every attempt is different.
Is the certificate accredited or officially recognised?
No. It is a private certificate of completion for knowledge only. It is not recognised, accredited or approved by any government, licensing body, regulator or educational institution, and it does not replace any licence, certification or training required by law.
