Was Sie vor der Prüfung wissen sollten
- The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) has six levels: A1 and A2 (basic user), B1 and B2 (independent user), and C1 and C2 (proficient user).
- At CEFR level A1, a learner can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases, introduce themselves and others, and ask and answer simple questions about personal details. They can talk in a simple way if the other person speaks slowly and clearly and is ready to help.
- At the next level, A2, a learner can understand frequent expressions about everyday topics such as family, shopping, the local area and work, and can take part in simple, routine exchanges of information.
- The Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) are a descriptive scale of language ability in English as a second language, written as 12 benchmarks from basic to advanced. The CLB is not a curriculum.
- The CLB (English) and the NCLC (French) are recognized as the official Canadian standards for describing, measuring and recognizing the language ability of adult immigrants and people planning to immigrate. The CLB were developed by the Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks and belong to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
- In Canada, call 9-1-1 only in an emergency when you need help right away. Tell the operator where you are, answer all the questions, stay calm and speak clearly.
Häufig gestellte Fragen
Which plan should I choose: 7, 10, 15 or 30 days?
All four plans have the same 30 units, the same lessons and the same questions. Only the daily time is different. The 7-day plan has 4–5 units a day, the 10-day plan has 3, the 15-day plan has 2 and the 30-day plan has 1. If you are new to English, the 30-day plan is easier.
What level will I reach?
The course covers the basics of the CEFR A1 level: greetings, numbers, times, family, food, shopping, directions, simple past and future, and getting help. It is a start. To speak well, you need more practice after the course.
Is this an official language certificate?
No. This course does not give you an official language level, a CLB level or a test result. It is not an official language test. If you need a language result for work, school or immigration, ask the organization which test it accepts.
How does listening work?
Press the play button. Your device reads the English text aloud with a Canadian English voice. In listening questions, you hear the text first. After you answer, you can read the text. If you hear no sound, check the volume on your device.
Do I need to know any English before I start?
A little English helps, but the course starts with the alphabet. The instructions use very simple words and short sentences.
What should I do after this course?
Review the units you found hard, and practise a little every day. Listen to English, speak with people and read short texts. Then look for an A2 course or an English class in your community.
