Domande frequenti
Do campus guards enforce the student code of conduct?
Guards observe and report what they see. Decisions under a code of conduct are made by the school's own process. Your post orders tell you what to record and who to tell.
What should I say if a student tells me about a sexual assault?
Listen without judgement and thank them for telling you. Ask about immediate safety and medical needs, call 911 if needed, and explain the support options in your school's policy. Let them decide what happens next.
Can I tell parents about their child?
Usually not. Most students are adults and their information is private. Refer parents to the right campus office, and in an emergency call 911 and follow your procedures.
What if a student is struggling but not in immediate danger?
Listen, stay calm and connect them with help, such as campus counselling or the 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline, which takes calls and texts at any time.
