Questions fréquentes
Do I need a special licence to work on an armoured car?
It depends on the province. British Columbia requires an armoured car guard licence and a course designed for armoured car guards, while Ontario and Alberta exempt armoured vehicle services from provincial security licensing (in Alberta, the exemption covers transport in an armoured vehicle with armed guards). Any crew member who carries a firearm needs a firearms licence and an Authorization to Carry. This course is background knowledge only.
Do armoured car companies have to report to FINTRAC?
Yes. Since July 1, 2024, they must have a compliance program, verify clients, keep records for 5 years, and report large cash and suspicious transactions.
What should I do if someone tries to rob an armoured car crew at my site?
Do not get involved. Keep yourself and others safe, call 911 when it is safe, note what you see, and give your notes to police.
Should a site guard help the crew carry cash?
Only if your post orders say so. The crew follows its own procedures; your job is usually to keep the area clear, stay alert and report anything unusual.
