常见问题
Do I need a licence and a clearance to guard a government building?
You need a provincial security licence where your province requires one, such as Alberta or British Columbia. Many federal sites also require reliability status or a security clearance, which your employer requests through the Contract Security Program. This course is background knowledge only.
Can I escort visitors anywhere in a federal building?
No. Under RCMP guidance, contract guards may escort only in the public and reception zones unless they hold a valid Secret or Top Secret clearance.
Do I have to greet people in both English and French?
At federal offices that must serve the public in both official languages, the service a contractor provides on their behalf must be available in both. Follow your post orders on greetings and on getting help in the other language.
What should I do if protesters gather outside?
Peaceful protest is protected by the Charter. Stay calm and neutral, keep entrances clear, observe and report, and call 911 if there is violence or a threat.
