Vanliga frågor
Does Nunavut have a working alone law?
Yes. Section 33 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations requires employers to identify hazards of lone or isolated work, reduce the risks and set up an effective communication system.
How often must a lone guard check in?
The regulations do not set one interval. The WSCC Working Alone Code says the hazard assessment sets the frequency, with more frequent check-ins for higher-risk work such as nights.
How do I refuse unsafe work in Nunavut?
Report the refusal to your employer or supervisor right away. If the danger is not fixed, the safety committee or a delegate of the Chief Safety Officer investigates within 24 hours.
How do I report a workplace injury in Nunavut?
Tell your employer right away and send a Worker's Report of Injury to the WSCC as soon as possible. The Nunavut toll-free line is 1-877-404-4407.
