Forklift Safety Awareness Course 2026
This course is for workers in Canada, including security guards on warehouse and yard patrols, who work around forklifts. It covers who may drive a forklift, daily checks, loads and stability, pedestrian safety, docks and battery charging. It is background knowledge only and is not forklift operator training: to drive a forklift you need the training, evaluation and authorization your province requires.

Domanda 1 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: A. Only trained and authorized workers
Only workers who are trained and authorized (and, where required, certified or found competent) should operate a forklift.
-
Domanda 2 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: B. A competent person
Clause 51(2)(a) of Regulation 851 (Industrial Establishments) requires the operator to be a competent person.
-
Domanda 3 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: A. CSA B335, Safety standard for lift trucks
BC's OHS Regulation s. 16.43 requires lift trucks to meet CAN/CSA B335-15, and operator training to meet Clause 6 of that standard.
-
Domanda 4 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: B. Truck class, assessor and date
The record should show the skills and knowledge shown, the truck class or classes assessed, the assessor's name and affiliation, and the date.
-
Domanda 5 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: B. At the start of the shift
Forklifts should be inspected every day, at the start of each shift and before use. BC requires the operator to inspect mobile equipment before it is first used on a shift.
-
Domanda 6 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: C. Report it to your supervisor right away
Problems found in the daily check should be reported to the supervisor immediately. Do not make repairs unless you are authorized.
-
Domanda 7 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: D. A visual walk-around check
The daily check starts with a visual (circle) check before starting, followed by an operational check with the key on.
-
Domanda 8 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: A. On the truck's data plate
Each lift truck has a maximum load limit, shown on its data plate. Never exceed it.
-
Domanda 9 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: D. It goes down
The load limit decreases as the load centre is raised, and raising a load makes the truck less stable.
-
Domanda 10 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: D. Heavier end closest to the front wheels
Keep the heavier end nearest the front wheels and tilt the mast back.
-
Domanda 11 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: A. Two-thirds
CCOHS says forks should be at least two-thirds of the load length and inserted fully under the load.
-
Domanda 12 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: D. About 10 to 15 cm off the floor
Travel with the forks as low as possible and tilted back, usually about 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 in.) above the floor.
-
Domanda 13 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: A. Uphill
On grades over 5%, a loaded truck keeps the load pointed uphill, both going up and coming down.
-
Domanda 14 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: C. Downhill
Unloaded trucks keep the forks pointed downhill on any grade.
-
Domanda 15 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: B. On a ramp
Do not turn on ramps. Turn on level ground whenever possible.
-
Domanda 16 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: C. No, unless it is built for a passenger
Nobody but the operator should ride on the truck unless it is designed for a second person.
-
Domanda 17 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: B. Stay in the truck
CCOHS advises operators to stay in the truck in case of overturn, and to wear the seat belt or restraint when one is fitted.
-
Domanda 18 di 25
Mostra la risposta
Risposta: D. No, never stand or walk under them
No one should stand or pass under the elevated part of a forklift, loaded or unloaded.
-
Domanda 19 di 25

Risposta: C. Make eye contact with the driver first
Pedestrians should use the walking areas set aside for them and make eye contact with the driver before crossing.
-
Domanda 20 di 25
Mostra la risposta

Traffic management separates people and trucks with marked walkways, exclusion zones and physical barriers such as bollards or fences.
-
Domanda 21 di 25
Mostra la risposta

Convex mirrors and warning lights at intersections help prevent collisions.
-

Mostra la risposta
Risposta: D. Chock the trailer's wheels
Make sure the truck brakes are set and the wheels are chocked, or use a trailer restraint, so the trailer cannot move away from the dock.
-
Domanda 23 di 25
