Passengers of any age, operators under 18 and permit holders must wear one. Helmets are strongly recommended for everyone.
What is the difference between M1, M2 and M3 in Alaska?
M1 is for motorcycles of any size (16 and older), M2 is for small cycles under 50cc (ages 14 and 15), and M3 is for three-wheeled motorcycles.
Can a rider course replace the Alaska road test?
Yes. An MSF course certificate waives the road skills test for one year. The MSF scooter test does not.

Two: a rules-of-the-road test, which is waived if you already hold a license or permit, and a motorcycle test.
