Ang dapat malaman bago ang pagsusulit
- The official pages we checked for the nationality declaration list residence, language, integration and participation conditions, but no national civics or knowledge test.
- You must be 18 or older, hold a residence permit of unlimited duration and have lived legally in Belgium for at least 5 years without a break.
- On the 5-year route you prove knowledge of one of the three national languages, social integration and economic participation, such as 468 working days in the last 5 years.
- Social integration can be shown by a secondary school diploma, 400 hours of recognised vocational training, a completed integration course, or 5 years of uninterrupted work.
- The minimum language level is A2. In Flanders the official Dutch test for a nationality application has four parts: reading, listening, speaking and writing.
- You make the declaration at your municipality. The public prosecutor then has 4 months to give an opinion; with no opinion in time, it counts as positive.
- In 2026 the registration fee for an adult is €1,030, according to the cities of Brussels and Leuven.
Mga madalas itanong
Is there a citizenship test in Belgium?
No. The official pages we checked describe no national civics or knowledge test for Belgian nationality. Instead you prove language knowledge, social integration and, depending on your route, economic participation. Rules can change, so check with your municipality before you apply.
What level of language do I need to become Belgian?
At least level A2 in Dutch, French or German. In Flanders, the Agency for Integration and Civic Integration organises an official Dutch test for nationality applications. Proof of social integration also counts as proof of language knowledge.
How long must I live in Belgium before I can apply?
Usually at least 5 years of uninterrupted legal residence, with a residence permit of unlimited duration. On the 10-year route you need fewer proofs: language knowledge and participation in the life of your community.
How do I prove social integration?
With one of these: a diploma at least at upper secondary level, at least 400 hours of recognised vocational training, a completed integration course, or 5 years of uninterrupted work as an employee, civil servant or self-employed person.
Why practise with this quiz if there is no test?
It helps you understand how Belgium is governed, your rights and duties, and the country's history and symbols. Integration courses for newcomers also include citizenship training on these topics.
