Domande frequenti
Does this course qualify me to direct traffic in PEI?
No. PEI's regulations require signaller training and a certificate of training, and the manual requires TCPs to be accredited by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. This course is background knowledge only.
What is the difference between a signaller and a TCP in PEI?
They describe the same job. The OHS General Regulations use the word signaller, and the Temporary Workplace Traffic Control Manual uses Traffic Control Person (TCP).
Can a security guard stop traffic on a public road in PEI?
Only if they are a trained, certified signaller (an accredited TCP) at a properly set-up work zone, working under the authority of the agency in charge of that road. Otherwise they should not direct traffic on a public road, and they should follow any police directions.
How far back should a PEI signaller stand?
It depends on speed. For example, at 50 km/h drivers must be able to see the signaller from 70 m away, and the signaller stands at least 30 m from the work area.
