Preguntas frecuentes
Can I record a conversation I am part of?
Under federal law, usually yes. But some states, such as California, Florida and Washington, require everyone in a private conversation to agree. Check your state law and your company policy first.
Are security cameras legal at work?
Video cameras are common in public and work areas, but there are limits. Some places are off limits, such as restrooms and locker rooms in Connecticut, and adding audio can bring in wiretap laws.
Can I look up a license plate owner?
Not on your own. The Driver's Privacy Protection Act limits who can get personal information from motor vehicle records and for what purpose. Note the plate and report it.
Is this course legal advice?
No. It explains the main laws in plain words. For a specific situation, follow your post orders and ask your employer, who may ask a lawyer.
