What to know before the test
- The minimum age for a Class M license is 17. Applicants under 18 must have held a Provisional Operator's Permit (POP) for at least 12 months with fewer than three points in the last 12 months.
- First-time applicants who never held a POP must pass vision, written and drive tests.
- The written and drive tests may be waived with proof of a Nebraska-approved motorcycle safety course completed within the past 24 months.
- After three failed drive tests in a row, you must complete an approved course or hold a learner's permit for at least 90 days before trying again.
- Riders under 21 must wear a helmet. Riders 21 and older may ride without one if they hold a Class M license and submit proof of an approved rider course.
- For endorsements issued on or after May 1, 2024, the helmet waiver requires the full basic rider course. Before that date, the 3-hour MSF eCourse was enough.
