NWT Class 7 Learner’s Practice Test 2026
To get a Class 7 learner’s licence in the Northwest Territories, you pass a vision screening and a written knowledge exam on the rules of the road. These practice questions cover the NWT’s graduated licensing rules, speed and school zones, road signs and safe driving.

What to know before the test
- You can get a Class 7 learner’s licence at 15. You must pass a vision screening and a written knowledge exam, and bring photo ID.
- The written exam is based on the Driver’s Manual and covers safe driving practices, driving laws and road signs.
- You must hold your Class 7 licence for at least one year and drive only with a supervisor who has at least 24 months of experience on a full Class 5 licence.
- Learners may not drive between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. and may not carry passengers other than the supervisor.
- The learner and the supervisor must both have a blood alcohol concentration of zero.
- After the learner stage, you spend at least 12 months suspension-free on a probationary Class 5 licence before upgrading in person.
- Unless posted otherwise, the limit is 50 km/h in a settlement or municipality and 90 km/h on a primary highway outside a settlement.
