Yes. Part 53 of the Occupational Health and Safety General Regulations sets the working alone rules, including written procedures, check-in intervals, an end-of-shift check and training.
How often must a lone guard check in under PEI rules?
The regulations do not set one number. The employer must specify the interval in its written procedures, based on the risks of the job.
Can I refuse unsafe work in PEI?
Yes. Under section 28 of the OHS Act, report the danger to your supervisor first, then to the committee or representative, then to an OHS officer. You cannot be punished for using this right in good faith.
How long do I have to file a Worker's Report with the WCB of PEI?
The WCB says your signed Worker's Report must reach it within six months of the accident, and you should file it even if you miss no work.
