Perguntas frequentes
What colour are warning signs in Ireland?
Most warning signs are yellow diamonds with black symbols. Warning signs at roadworks have the same diamond shape but are orange.
Are speed limits in Ireland in km/h or mph?
Speed limits in Ireland are in kilometres per hour, and the signs show "km/h" under the number. Distances on signs are in kilometres and metres.
What is the difference between a STOP sign and a YIELD sign?
At a STOP sign you must stop completely at the stop line, even if the road is clear. At a YIELD sign you must give way to traffic on the major road, but you only need to stop if it is not clear.

Ireland has two official languages, Irish and English. Direction signs show place names in both, and some yield signs say "Géill Slí".
