Wat je moet weten voor het examen
- The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) has six levels in three groups: Basic User (A1 and A2), Independent User (B1 and B2) and Proficient User (C1 and C2).
- A1 is the first CEFR level. A learner at A1 can use familiar everyday expressions and very simple phrases, introduce themselves and others, and ask and answer questions about personal details, such as where someone lives. They can talk in a simple way if the other person speaks slowly and clearly and is ready to help.
- In Canada, the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) are the national standard for English and the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) are the national standard for French. They are used to describe, measure and recognize second-language ability.
- For Express Entry, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) measures French with NCLC levels. The French tests it accepts are TEF Canada and TCF Canada.
- The Language Portal of Canada, from the Government of Canada's Translation Bureau, has a page of resources for learning French on your own, including games, exercises and quizzes.
Veelgestelde vragen
Which plan should I choose: 7, 10, 15 or 30 days?
All four plans have the same 30 units and the same questions. Only the amount you study each day changes: about 4 or 5 units a day in 7 days, 3 units a day in 10 days, 2 units a day in 15 days, or 1 unit a day in 30 days. Choose the plan that fits your free time.
Do I need to know any French before I start?
No. The course starts with the alphabet and greetings. The instructions and explanations are in English, and the examples are in French.
What level will I reach?
The course teaches the basics of level A1 of the CEFR: everyday phrases, simple questions and short conversations about familiar topics, when people speak slowly and clearly.
Is this an official language certificate?
No. This course does not give an official language level or certificate, and it is not a CLB/NCLC assessment. For Express Entry, IRCC accepts the French tests TEF Canada and TCF Canada.
How does listening work?
Your device reads the French phrases and listening scripts aloud with its text-to-speech voice. Turn on your sound. If your device has no French voice, you can add one in its language settings. After you answer a listening question, you can read the script.
What should I do next?
Review the units where you made mistakes and say the phrases aloud every day. Then keep going with more listening and reading, for example with the games and exercises listed on the Language Portal of Canada, and move on to an A2 course.
Is het certificaat geaccrediteerd of officieel erkend?
