À savoir avant l’examen
- Job ads list requirements (must-haves) and assets (good to have). Assets can put you ahead, but they are not mandatory.
- NOC 2021 uses a five-digit code structure (older versions used four digits).
- NOC 2021 groups occupations into six TEER categories, from TEER 0 (management) to TEER 5 (short work demonstration, no formal education).
- The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre warns never to pay deposits or fees for a job, and lists offers for jobs you never applied for as a warning sign.
- You do not have to give your SIN to fill out a job application. It is needed only after you are hired.
- A new employee must give their SIN to the employer within 3 days of starting work.
- If you do not give your employer a completed TD1, tax is deducted using only the basic personal amount. A new TD1 is due within 7 days of a change to your tax credits.
- A vulnerable sector check must be requested by the hiring organization and is done by the local police service where you live (in British Columbia, through the Criminal Records Review Program).
