BC ICBC Knowledge Practice Test 2026
In British Columbia you pass the ICBC knowledge test to get your learner’s (L) licence. The test has 50 multiple-choice questions and you need 40 correct. These practice questions cover BC’s Graduated Licensing Program, road signs and the rules of the road.

What to know before the test
- The ICBC knowledge test has 50 multiple-choice questions. You need 40 correct answers to pass.
- You can get your learner’s licence on or after your 16th birthday. If you are under 19, a custodial parent or legal guardian must come with you.
- The test is not open book, and phones and other electronic devices are not allowed.
- The knowledge test is available in 11 languages, including English, French, Punjabi, Mandarin and Cantonese.
- If you fail the knowledge test, you must wait one day before you try again.
- A learner’s licence is valid for two years. You must hold it for at least 12 months before the Class 7 road test.
