Domande frequenti
How many questions are on the German citizenship test?
There are 33 multiple-choice questions, each with four options. You have 60 minutes and need at least 17 correct answers to pass.
Are these the official BAMF questions?
No. These are original practice questions on the same topics. The official catalogue of 310 questions is free on the BAMF website and in its Online-Testcenter, so study it as well.
What if I fail the Einbürgerungstest?
If you get fewer than 17 correct answers, you can take the test again. The BAMF gives you a certificate with your result to hand to the naturalisation office.
Who does not have to take the test?
People with a German school-leaving certificate, and people who cannot meet the requirement because of illness, disability or age. Your naturalisation office decides.

Normally five years of lawful residence, German at level B1, the ability to support yourself without Bürgergeld, no criminal conviction, and a commitment to the Basic Law and to Germany's historical responsibility.
